In our Type A homes, the resident must be ambulatory. An ambulating device such as a “walker” or wheelchair may be used, however, the resident must be able to do so unassisted. The other important criteria for a Type A license is the resident must be able to understand and follow directions in the event of an emergency.

In our Type B homes, residents need not be ambulatory but can not be bedfast. Our staff provides assistance 24 hrs. a day to the residents in getting in and out of bed and going to the restroom.

Generally speaking Type A residents can ambulate by some means unassisted. Type B residents can not. Type B residents are, for the most part, unable to transfer without assistance and would require staff assistance in the event of an emergency.
