Hydration Therapy Program Started To Prevent Infections

Mayberry Gardens has partnered with Reliant Home Health to start a new hydration therapy program to prevent Urinary Tract Infections. UTIs are very common among seniors and many times can lead to general weakness, dizziness, intense pain, and even hospitalization. Many seniors experiencing UTIs have an increased risk of falling. UTIs can largely be prevented by proper hygiene, correct nutrition including supplements, and drinking plenty of liquids.

We are now starting a simple hydration program of going from resident room to room with small cups of water and offering the water 3-4 different times during the day. We have started the program already in one of our homes and it met with much success. The most common response we have heard is, “Can I have another glass,” or “where are my pills.”
